Literacy & Me.1, 2, 3 (Grades 1 - 3)

Students in Grades 1-3 will use their existing knowledge and skills to build a strong language foundation. Children will learn the language skills and strategies of oral communication, reading comprehension, vocabulary knowledge, and language structure.

Storytellers (Grades 4 - 6)

Students will blossom into creative storytellers by expanding on their existing language skills in reading comprehension, oral communication, and listening strategies. By exploring multiple perspectives, students will learn how to appreciate the viewpoints of others. By applying their life experiences, students become more connected to their stories and learning becomes more personal.

Independent Thinkers (Grade 7 & 8 )

Students in Grades 7 & 8 will explore various ideas and expression of opinions. They will learn how to write and communicate about topics of personal interest. Building on existing skills, students will learn how to effectively communicate information and ideas for diverse purposes and audiences.

Inquisitive Minds (Grade 9 & 10)

Students in Grades 9 & 10 will learn how to listen, understand, make predictions, read for meaning, and build on their existing language skills. They will develop and organize ideas and information by applying their knowledge of language conventions (eg. vocabulary, punctuation, editing, proofreading, etc).

Critical Thinkers (Grade 11 & 12)

Students in Grades 11 & 12 will improve their understanding of critical literacy, planning and development of presentations, interpretation and evaluation of texts, and intercommunication skills. Through this program, students will learn how to reflect on, identify, and master their strengths and strategies as readers, listeners, and speakers. The skill of critical thinking is the key to success at the post-secondary level.
